Short-Term Let In Kirriemuir Approved For Three More Years

Short-Term Let In Kirriemuir Approved For Three More Years

As the owner of 8th Line Property, I’m thrilled to announce that our one-bed, self-contained flat at Auchentinny, Cairn Road, Kirriemuir, has officially received a three-year short-term let licence. The decision comes after a recent hearing with the Angus Civic Licensing Committee, where a neighbour raised some concerns. Despite this, the committee approved for us to continue offering the property as a short-term let.

Why Short-Term Let? The Appeal Of Auchentinny

When I first converted a garage into a comfortable living space at Auchentinny, it was primarily intended as an office and gym. However, as time passed, the idea of transforming it into a short-term let seemed like a perfect fit for the area.

Located in the beautiful Kirriemuir area, Auchentinny quickly gained traction among hillwalkers, cyclists, and others looking for a peaceful getaway. Our self-contained flat provides the ideal base for those exploring the countryside. With a 9/10 rating on Booking.com, it has earned praise for its tranquillity and great location.

A Smooth Transition To Short-Term Let

The new legislation introduced last October required all short-term let operators to apply for a licence. This process was not only necessary for legal compliance but also to ensure that the property was meeting high standards.

During the hearing, a neighbour expressed concern about the potential impact on traffic, especially since Cairn Road is an unadopted road. They feared that increased visitors could cause disruption. In response, I reassured the committee that we had taken steps to ensure minimal disruption. We have strict house rules in place, including a no-party policy, to maintain a quiet and respectful environment for both guests and neighbours.

Supporting Local Economy Through Short-Term Let

One of the key benefits of running a short-term let like Auchentinny is the positive impact it has on the local community. Visitors who stay with us often frequent local businesses, providing a boost to the area’s economy. It’s heartening to see how our short-term let contributes to Kirriemuir’s growing appeal as a destination for tourists and nature enthusiasts.

The council recognised the value of Auchentinny to the local area. Councillor Craig Fotheringham, who knows the property well, expressed his support. He noted that while Cairn Road is an unadopted road, it serves as a through-road with minimal traffic disruption. His comments helped reinforce the case for continuing our operation.

The Future Of Auchentinny And Short-Term Let Business

Receiving this short-term let licence for three years is incredibly rewarding. It allows us to continue offering a high standard of accommodation for our guests. The positive feedback we’ve received assures me that we’re providing a valuable service to both our visitors and the local community.

We’re committed to maintaining the quality of Auchentinny and ensuring that our guests have the best experience possible. Our flat is more than just a place to stay; it’s a peaceful retreat where visitors can relax and enjoy the stunning natural surroundings.
